Casey Blu-ray now on Amazon & More

Back in February of this year we released the Blu-ray version of our film Casey Makes a Mixtape and it was initially exclusively available on our website.
But now you can buy it from many top online Blu-ray retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble and MovieZyng (a movie collector's site). And more outlets are in the works.
This is a big deal for an indie film like ours that is not going through traditional distribution channels.
If you've followed our film's journey you know that we had lots of offers for traditional distribution, but we ended turning them all down and keeping our rights in-house. Then we "carved those rights up" (instead of giving them away to one company for 5 or 10 years with no guarantees of any ROI) and are working with different entities to get the film out into the world.
Some might call this "self distribution", but it's really not. Our company is the distributor, but we contract with other companies to exploit the film. And one such company is now handling our physical media distribution. And note, we've partnered with other companies to do our VOD and airline deals, along with our new AVOD deals on Tubi and more.
It can be a lot of work, but it's really the only path for the majority of smaller indie films today - that is if you want to have any control over the release and if you want to have any chance of making money.
The economics today for most indies do not work with traditional distribution. And to be clear, it's not all the distributors fault (although they can be problematic with "Hollywood accounting" and overcharging for expenses), but it's also just the indie film market today.
Audiences have been trained to wait for films to come to Netflix, Hulu, etc. - but most indies don't get on those channels. And most consumers don't want to buy or rent a film now because they assume it'll be on one of the myriad of streamers they aleady pay for. So it's definitely a challenge for everyone now.
But back to the good news... :)
You can still buy the Blu-ray directly from our site, but now you can also get in from online retailers, too. Note though that the retail version is slightly different than the one from our website. One is a Limited Edition and the other is a Standard Edition. You can read about the differences here and also buy the Blu-ray from us or the retailers - either way we hope you'll check it out.
